This policy explains what TheWebCart does with your information when you shop with us, create an account, or get in touch. It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email info@thewebcart.com and we will explain it.

The short version
- We never see your card details, because we do not take card payments. Every order is paid in cash to the courier.
- We collect what we need to get an order to your door: your name, address, phone number and email.
- TheWebCart is a marketplace. The seller you buy from receives your delivery details, because they are the one shipping to you.
- We do not sell your information to anyone.
What we collect, and why
When you place an order: your name, delivery address, phone number and email address. We need the address and phone to deliver — the seller or courier calls you to agree a delivery time before turning up.
When you create an account: your email address, and a password you set yourself through a link we email you. We never see or store your password in readable form.
When you sign up for our newsletter: just your email address.
When you contact us: whatever you send us — usually your name, your message, and the email address or phone number you contacted us from.
When you apply to sell: your business details, contact information and store information, so we can set up and verify your storefront.
Payment information
TheWebCart is cash on delivery only. There is no card form anywhere on this site, we do not use a payment processor, and no card, bank or wallet details are ever entered, transmitted or stored by us. You pay the courier in cash when your order reaches you.
Who else sees your information
The seller you bought from. This is a marketplace of independent Lebanese businesses, and each one ships its own orders. When you buy from a store, that store receives the details it needs to deliver to you. If your order contains items from more than one seller, each seller sees only their own part of it.
Couriers. Whoever delivers your parcel is given your name, address and phone number so they can bring it to you and call ahead.
Services that keep the site running. Our website is hosted by our hosting provider, and we use Jetpack (Automattic) for basic visitor statistics and spam filtering, and Google Fonts to load the typefaces you are reading now. These services may record technical information such as your IP address and browser, as almost every website does.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Cookies
This site uses cookies to keep your shopping basket working, to keep you signed in if you have an account, and to remember whether you are viewing prices in dollars or Lebanese pounds. Our visitor statistics also set a cookie. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the basket and sign-in will stop working if you do.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as we need them for accounting, tax and customer-service reasons. Account details are kept until you ask us to close the account. Newsletter sign-ups are kept until you ask to be removed.
Your choices
- You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- You can ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- You can ask us to delete your account and personal details, unless we are required to keep an order record for accounting reasons.
- You can ask to be removed from the newsletter at any time.
Email info@thewebcart.com for any of these and we will confirm once it is done.
Children
This site is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
